Microbiome Breakthroughs Lead the Spotlight at Sweetch

At NYSCC⁤ Suppliers’ Day 2026 in New York City ⁤(May 19-20), Sweetch is unveiling its latest ‌innovations in cosmetic ingredients. ⁢Visitors can ‍view ⁤solutions aimed at bolstering teh⁤ skin microbiome, decorative beads for cosmetic products, and a new type of emulsifier developed for sun care ‍formulas.

Speaking with Personal Care Insights, Sweetch’s chief commercial officer Sébastien Kerverdo discussed ingredient trends,‌ their specific functions, and rising interest in microbiome-supportive skincare solutions seen on the trade show floor.

“A ‌decade ago, awareness of probiotics and the‍ microbiome was minimal. Now, the skin microbiome is receiving far more research‌ and ⁢attention,” Kerverdo states.

Enhancing and Protecting the Skin’s Microbiome

Sweetch’s ⁣portfolio features preBiulin ⁣FOS, a concentrated prebiotic derived from hydrolyzed inulin in chicory root. This ingredient leverages natural prebiotic benefits to foster⁤ a healthy skin environment, supporting the growth of beneficial⁤ skin bacteria.

preBiulin FOS serves to reinforce the skin barrier, helping shield against external aggressors like environmental particles, certain preservatives, and alcohol-based components.⁢ Its protective traits make it a good fit for sensitive and acne-prone skin. It allows ⁣the epidermis to adjust to evolving ⁣environmental threats and limits irritation.

Kerverdo emphasizes that shampoos containing preBiulin FOS can help normalize the scalp microbiome. Skin care preparations using this prebiotic aim ‍to maintain a balanced microbiome,⁢ ease common issues, and minimize discomfort such as redness and itching.

He highlights two key routes⁣ for utilizing preBiulin⁢ FOS:

“First, it offers ingredient suppliers ⁣confidence that their product keeps the microbial balance intact. Second, it supports ⁤the development of actives that enhance the harmonious ⁣activity of skin ⁤microorganisms and connect to overall skin health.”

Eco-Amiable ⁤Decorative Pearls for Cosmetics

Sweetch is also introducing its NatPearls collection. These decorative beads, ⁤available in blends like NatPearl Cherry, NatPearl ⁤Olive, and⁢ NatPearl ‌pure, deliver visual appeal along with a pleasant tactile experience for finished formulations.

NatPearls feature a naturally based‌ carrier system‌ with ⁣distinctively colored spherical beads. Brands can use them to craft signature product appearances and create unique design effects within creams or gels.

Commenting on regulatory updates and growing environmental expectations, Kerverdo notes that NatPearls are free from microplastics. The range is positioned to‍ meet Cosmos certification standards soon, keeping ahead of ⁣ongoing ⁢ingredient restrictions across the EU and ⁤the ‍US.

Advancing Sun Care with Lightweight Emulsifiers

Sweetch’s showcase also includes a newly engineered emulsifier crafted for modern sun care solutions.‌ Many high-SPF ⁣ formulas can leave behind a tacky or sticky texture. This new emulsifier addresses that challenge directly, according to Kerverdo.

“With our‌ emulsifier, products lose that heavy, sticky feel. It yields⁤ emulsions with vrey⁤ low viscosity, is sprayable,‍ and offers a ⁣consistently smooth and stable‌ result,” he says.

This makes the ⁣ingredient well-suited for today’s lighter sun protection products, which meet growing demand from consumers who want comfortable ‍daily routines without heaviness or residue. According to recent reports, the global sun care market is ⁢seeing steady growth as ‌people prioritize both protection and product experience every⁤ day.
