UFI Creation and PCN Notification

75.00

The PCN notification service is designed to help businesses meet their obligations under the EU CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. If you place hazardous mixtures on the EU market you are legally required to submit a Poison Centre Notification (PCN) and generate a Unique Formula Identifier (UFI).

Our service ensures your products are fully compliant with the harmonised notification requirements. We handle the complete PCN submission process—from data collection and UFI generation to dossier creation and submission via the ECHA Submission Portal. Whether you’re an EU-based business or a non-EU company placing products in Europe, we simplify compliance so you can focus on what you do best.

Unique Formula Identifier (UFI)

A Unique Formula Identifier (UFI) is a code required for the labeling of hazardous mixtures under the Classification, Labeling, and Packaging (CLP) Regulation in the European Union. The UFI is part of the new poison center notification requirements and is used to uniquely identify a specific mixture.

You need to create a UFI and include it on the product label if you are placing a hazardous mixture on the market in the EU that is subject to the CLP Regulation. This typically applies to chemicals and mixtures that meet specific criteria for classification as hazardous.

The UFI is required for products that may pose health or physical risks and must be included on the label to assist poison centers and other healthcare professionals in providing the appropriate advice in case of emergencies, such as accidental exposure.

If you are a manufacturer, importer, or downstream user placing a hazardous mixture on the market, you are responsible for generating the UFI and providing it on the product label. The UFI is linked to the specific composition of the mixture, and it allows authorities and poison centers to quickly identify the product in case of an emergency.

CLP label

A CLP label your packaga label that complies with the requirements of the Classification, Labeling, and Packaging (CLP) Regulation in the European Union.

The main elements of a CLP label include:

  1. Product Identifier: The name or identifier of the substance or mixture.
  2. Hazard Pictograms: Graphical symbols that convey the nature of the hazards posed by the substance or mixture. For example, pictograms for flammable, corrosive, or toxic substances.
  3. Signal Words: “Danger” or “Warning” to indicate the severity of the hazard.
  4. Hazard Statements: Standardized phrases that describe the nature and degree of the hazards.
  5. Precautionary Statements: Information on how to minimize or prevent adverse effects.
  6. Supplier Information: Name, address, and telephone number of the supplier or manufacturer.

The CLP Regulation aligns with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), ensuring consistency in the communication of hazards worldwide. CLP labeling is mandatory for substances and mixtures that meet certain criteria for classification as hazardous.

Poison Centre Notification (PCN)

A PCN Notification is a Poison Centre Notification. This notification is part of the regulatory requirements under the Classification, Labeling, and Packaging (CLP) Regulation in the European Union. The goal is to provide emergency health response information to poison centers and healthcare professionals in case of incidents involving hazardous chemicals.

The Poison Centre Notification includes the submission of information related to the composition and classification of hazardous mixtures. Manufacturers and importers of certain hazardous mixtures are required to notify relevant poison centres in the EU member states where the product is placed on the market.

Key elements of a Poison Centre Notification include:

  • Product Information: Details about the chemical mixture, including its composition.
  • Hazard Classification: Information about the classification of the mixture according to the CLP Regulation.
  • Unique Formula Identifier (UFI): A code to uniquely identify the specific mixture.
  • Product Label Information: Relevant details from the product label, including hazard pictograms, signal words, and precautionary statements.

The purpose of the Poison Centre Notification is to improve the availability of information for medical professionals and poison centers in the event of an emergency, such as accidental exposure or ingestion. This system aims to enhance the safety of handling chemicals and provide timely and accurate information for appropriate medical advice and treatment.
