- Description
- Additional information
This additional variant for the safety assessment of cosmetic products can only be purchased if an assessment has already been purchased from Certified Cosmetics. With the additional variant, you can add an extra variant to an existing assessment.
What is a variation?
You can often create multiple product variations simply by changing the fragrance or color of a base formulation. By choosing the variation option in these specific cases, you benefit from lower costs while ensuring that your product variations continue to comply with cosmetic safety regulations. For each variation, we create the PIF with CPSR and conduct a laboratory test. For 2 variations, 2 PIFs with CPSR are created and 2 laboratory tests are conducted.
When should you choose the variation option?
- Change fragrance: If the only change to the base formulation is a change in fragrance, you can choose the variant option. This is because the base formulation remains the same and only the fragrance is changed.
- Change color: Even if you choose to change the color of the product without introducing new ingredients or raw materials, this qualifies for the variant price.
Example 1Variant 1 soap ingredients:
- 96% white soap base
- 2% aloe vera powder
- Fragrance oil – 2% lavender essential oil
Variant 2 with modified fragrance:
- 96% white soap base
- 2% aloe vera powder
- New fragrance oil – 2% citrus essential oil
Variant 3 with modified scent:
- 96% white soap base
- 2% aloe vera powder
- New fragrance oil – 2% Ylang Ylang essential oil
These variants retain the same base ingredients but change the scent from lavender to citrus and Ylang Ylang. Since the composition remains unchanged, apart from the scent, you should choose the “3 varieties” option. Example 2Variant 1 soap ingredients:
- 20% Water
- 10% sodium hydroxide
- 16% olive oil
- 10% palm oil
- 10% rice bran oil
- 16% coconut oil
- 12% laurel oil
- 3% fragrance oil
- Color – 1% forest green mica
- Color – 1% blue mica
- Color – 1% orange mica
Variant 2 with modified color:
- 20% water
- 10% sodium hydroxide
- 16% olive oil
- 10% palm oil
- 10% rice bran oil
- 16% coconut oil
- 12% laurel oil
- 3% fragrance oil
- New color-1% gold-yellow mica
- New color-1% black mica
- New color-1% white mica
This variant retains the same base ingredients, but only the colors change. Since the composition remains unchanged, apart from the colors, select the “2 variants” option. Important reminder: If additional raw materials are added (such as a new active ingredient, plant extract, preservatives, or any other ingredient that changes the formulation), this is not counted as a variantdue to the significant change that the new formulation entails.
