Op 10 februari 2026 deelde het Europees Agentschap voor chemische stoffen (ECHA) zijn laatste “Response to Comments” (RCOM) met betrekking tot het voorstel voor de indeling van natriumfluoride. Deze aankondiging volgde op een 90 dagen durende \u200dpublieke \u200dherziening van de Franse aanvraag om natriumfluoride te classificeren als een Repr. 1B stof onder de Classification, Labelling and Packaging<\/a> (CLP) verordening voor stoffen en mengsels. De focus lag op de vraag of natriumfluoride binnen dit kader onder een strikte gevarenclassificatie moet vallen. Het uitgeven van de RCOM zet een nieuwe fase in het regelgevingsproces in. <\/p>\n

Huidige EU-verordening<\/h2>\n

Volgens de EU-wetgeving is natriumfluoride in mondverzorgingsproducten momenteel toegestaan tot 0,15%, volgens Bijlage III van de Cosmeticaverordening. Als een Repr. 1B indeling wordt bevestigd, treedt artikel 15 in werking. Dit artikel verbiedt het gebruik van CMR-stoffen – kankerverwekkend, mutageen of giftig voor de voortplanting – in cosmetische formules. <\/p>\n

Standpunt van de industrie: Wetenschappelijk debat en volksgezondheid<\/h2>\n

Tijdens de RCOM-consultatie hebben organisaties uit de chemische sector, de sector persoonlijke verzorging en de tandheelkundige sector een bijdrage geleverd. Een paar EU-landen sloten zich bij deze standpunten aan. Belanghebbenden uit de industrie betoogden dat het huidige bewijs geen ondersteuning biedt voor het etiketteren van natriumfluoride als CMR-stof. Ze noemden de positieve rol van natriumfluoride in de mondgezondheid en het belang ervan in cosmetische producten<\/a> voor mondhygi\u00ebne. <\/p>\n

Wereldwijd blijft \u200dnatriumfluoride het belangrijkste middel tegen gaatjes in tandpasta en mondwater.<\/p>\n

Het risicobeoordelingscomit\u00e9 van ECHA (RAC) is nu bezig met de beoordeling van het indelingsvoorstel.
