In tegenstelling tot termen als &#8220;dermatologisch getest&#8221; of &#8220;klinisch bewezen&#8221;, die duidelijkere wetenschappelijke implicaties hebben, wordt &#8220;hypoallergeen&#8221; vaak losser gebruikt in marketing. Maar als merken deze claim geloofwaardig willen maken, moeten ze dat onderbouwen met wetenschappelijk bewijs. Om de hypoallergene claim te onderbouwen en misleiding van consumenten en mogelijke juridische gevolgen te voorkomen, moeten cosmeticabedrijven deze claims onderbouwen met wetenschappelijk gevalideerde testen.  <\/p>\n<h2>Laboratoriumtests om hypoallergene claim te staven<\/h2>\n<p>Om aan te tonen dat een cosmetisch product hypoallergeen is, wordt een reeks <em>in vitro<\/em> en <em>in vivo<\/em> tests uitgevoerd om te beoordelen of een product irritatie of allergische reacties kan veroorzaken. Hieronder volgen de belangrijkste testmethodologie\u00ebn:<\/p>\n<h4>Patchtests<em>(In-vivotests<\/em> )<\/h4>\n<p>Patchtests zijn een veelgebruikte in vivo methode om de kans op huidirritatie en sensibilisatie te beoordelen. Bij deze test wordt een kleine hoeveelheid van het product onder gecontroleerde omstandigheden op de huid aangebracht, meestal op de rug. Het product wordt 24 tot 48 uur op de huid gelaten, waarna de plek wordt onderzocht op tekenen van irritatie, zoals roodheid, zwelling of jeuk.  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Repeat Insult Patch Test (RIPT):<\/strong> Om de cumulatieve irritatie en het sensibilisatiepotentieel te evalueren, wordt de RIPT uitgevoerd. Het gaat om meerdere toepassingen over een periode van een paar weken en geeft een beter beeld van het effect van het product op de consument na verloop van tijd. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Humane Herhaalde Insult Patch Test (HRIPT)<\/h4>\n<p>HRIPT is een andere in vivo testmethode die algemeen erkend wordt in de cosmetica-industrie. Het is ontworpen om te bepalen of herhaalde blootstelling aan een cosmetisch product een allergische reactie opwekt. Deelnemers, meestal vrijwilligers zonder bekende gevoeligheden, worden onderworpen aan meerdere productapplicaties, gevolgd door een rustperiode en vervolgens een uitdagingsfase. Alle tekenen van irritatie of overgevoeligheid worden zorgvuldig gevolgd en geregistreerd.   <\/p>\n<h4> <em> In vitro<\/em> testen<\/h4>\n<p>Met de toenemende druk om het aantal dierproeven en de ethische implicaties ervan te verminderen, worden in-vitrotests steeds populairder. Bij deze tests worden celculturen of gereconstrueerde humane epidermismodellen gebruikt om het irritatiepotentieel van cosmetische ingredi\u00ebnten te evalueren. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>3D huidmodellen:<\/strong> Geavanceerde in-vitrotests maken gebruik van gereconstrueerde menselijke huidmodellen, zoals EpiDerm of SkinEthic, die de reacties van de menselijke huid op het aanbrengen van cosmetische formules kunnen simuleren.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cytotoxiciteitstests:<\/strong> Deze tests meten de mate van celschade veroorzaakt door cosmetische ingredi\u00ebnten en helpen bij het bepalen van mogelijke irritatie zonder gebruik te maken van diermodellen.<\/li>\n<li><strong>HET-CAM Test:<\/strong> De kippenei-test op het chorioallanto\u00efsmembraan is een alternatief voor dierproeven en is gericht op het beoordelen van het irritatiepotentieel van cosmetische formuleringen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Regelgeving voor hypoallergene cosmetica<\/h2>\n<p>In de EU vallen cosmetische producten onder de Cosmeticaverordening (EG) nr. 1223\/2009. Hoewel de term &#8220;hypoallergeen&#8221; niet expliciet is gedefinieerd, moeten producten die deze claim maken voldoen aan de bredere regelgeving die de veiligheid van de consument waarborgt. Bedrijven moeten een productinformatiedossier (PIF) bijhouden met veiligheidsbeoordelingen, inclusief bewijs ter ondersteuning van hypoallergene claims. Laboratoriumtests nodig?
